Who we are

About the Conference

Welcome to the 23rd International Scientific Conference "Law Days – Prof. Slavko Carić, PhD" — a gathering of legal scholars, researchers, and practitioners from across the region and beyond, organized by the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, University Business Academy in Novi Sad.

This year's theme — "Law between doctrine and digital reality: transformation of law in digital society" — reflects the urgency of understanding how law adapts to an increasingly digital world.

The official language of the conference is English. All papers must be submitted in English. Participation is free of charge. The conference is supported by the Provincial Secretariat for Higher Education and Scientific Research. Participants who will present their research at the conference will receive a Certificate of Participation.

MEET OUR PRESIDENT OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

Professor Jelena Stojšić Dabetić, PhD

Professor Jelena Stojšić Dabetić, PhD, serves as the President of the Scientific Committee of the 23rd International Scientific Conference “Law Days – Prof. Slavko Carić, PhD”, and also holds position of Dean of the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, University Business Academy in Novi Sad. As a dedicated scholar and expert in the field of law, Professor Stojšić Dabetić has made a significant contribution to the development of legal science through extensive academic, research, and professional engagement. Her research interests particularly include progressive development of law in digital society.

As President of the Scientific Committee, Professor Stojšić Dabetić is committed to ensuring the highest academic and professional standards of the Conference, encouraging international scientific dialogue, interdisciplinary cooperation, and the exchange of innovative ideas among researchers and practitioners from different legal systems and academic traditions.

Professor Cristina Elena Popa Tache, PhD

MEET OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Professor Cristina Elena Popa Tache, PhD

Cristina Elena Popa Tache is Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Governance at Danubius International University, Director of the CIRET Paris Observatory of Law and Transdisciplinarity, and Visiting Academic Researcher at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, University of Cambridge. She serves as Co-Chair and Co-Convenor of the International Business and Human Rights Interest Group within the European Society of International Law (ESIL), is a member of the ESIL Task Force on Underrepresentation, an active member of the ISDS Academic Forum, and an Academic and Scientific Expert in the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) Expert Database (2026–2030). Professor Popa Tache is President of the International Institute for the Analysis of Legal and Administrative Mutations and Vice Secretary-General of CIRET Paris. Her research focuses on public international law, international investment law, transdisciplinarity, digital governance, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

Recipient of the 2024 Nicolae Titulescu Award for International Law of the Romanian Academy, she is also an internationally recognised editor and author whose work has been published and disseminated through leading academic publishers, including Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis, Palgrave Macmillan, and L’Harmattan Paris. 

Professor Valentina Ranaldi, PhD

MEET OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Professor Valentina Ranaldi, PhD

Valentina Ranaldi is Associate Professor of European Union Law at the Department of Politics, Law, Social Sciences and Humanities of the Niccolò Cusano University of Rome, where she has been a faculty member since 2018, initially serving as Research Fellow. At the same institution, she serves as Institutional Erasmus Coordinator for the Area of Law. Previously, she taught European Union Law and International Law at eCampus University as Adjunct Professor.

She holds two PhDs: one in International Order and Human Rights from Sapienza University of Rome and another in Economic, Business and Legal Sciences from Kore University of Enna.

She is the author of more than fifty scientific publications, including monographs, edited volumes, book chapters and journal articles. She has presented papers at and organised numerous national and international conferences, particularly in the Balkan region, which constitutes one of her main areas of research, especially with regard to EU accession processes.

She has participated in funded international research projects including in roles involving scientific responsibility and coordination.

She has held teaching and research appointments at universities and research institutions in France, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and the United Kingdom, serving as Visiting Research Fellow, Visiting Professor and Adjunct Professor. She has also carried out research and professional activities at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union in Brussels.

Professor Joko Dragojlović, PhD

MEET OUR PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE

Professor Joko Dragojlović, PhD

Joko Dragojlović is Full Professor of Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, University Business Academy in Novi Sad, Serbia. He previously held the academic positions of Teaching Associate, Assistant Professor, Assistant, and Associate Professor at the same institution. He obtained his LL.B., LL.M., and Ph.D. degrees from the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, where he earned his doctorate in law by defending a doctoral dissertation in the field of criminal law.

Professor Dragojlović has led and participated in numerous scientific research projects funded by national, provincial, and local institutions, including serving as Principal Investigator of the project Legal Framework for the Prevention and Suppression of Violence against Children. Since 2019, he has served as Chair of the Organising Committee of the international scientific conference Lawyers' Days – Prof. Dr. Slavko Carić. He has extensive experience in academic supervision, having supervised six successfully defended doctoral dissertations and more than fifty master's theses, and has frequently served as a member of examination committees for master's theses and doctoral dissertations. He is also a reviewer for leading Serbian academic journals, including Kultura Polisa, Law – Theory and Practice, and Baština. His research interests include criminal law, criminal procedure law, international criminal law, organised crime, and cybercrime.
